Hosted by the departments of Gender Studies and Media Studies at the University of Turku the two-day symposium brings together scholars working on Transgender Studies, an interdisciplinary field of inquiry into the experiential, intellectual and political knowledge production of trans*issues, sex, gender, identity and embodiment. The symposium is a continuation to a workshop that was organized by the centre for gender research at Uppsala and Södertörn University in Stockholm 2014.
The program includes two keynotes by Professor Jinthana Haritaworn (York University, Canada) and Professor Jenny Sundén (Södertörn University, Sweden) and workshops with presentations, papers, and discussions.
The keynote lectures are open to public. The workshops are open only for the pre-registered participants.
The symposium is organized by Science, Embodiment and Transformation, a research group at Gender Studies, University of Turku and funded partly by Oskar Öflund Foundation.
